The Big Two

Can you believe sweet little Payton is two?? I can't believe it. I mean, when he sasses me and gives me attitude I can believe he's two. When makes a mad-dash for the park and almost outruns me (complete exaggeration) I can believe he's two. When he takes Jackson down and holds his own in a wrestling match I can believe he's two.

I guess it's just hard to believe that he was born two years ago, yet I'm still using the "I just had a baby" excuse for why I'm a little soft and squishy in the mid-section.

He had a fun birthday. He loves cars. LOVES cars. They are always on his mind. He has to have a car in each hand at night when he goes to bed. If I've picked him up in the night to give him a little love, when I put him down (and he's still completely asleep) his hand instantly reaches out for Lightning McQueen. As soon as he has it he snuggles it close to him and continues to sleep like a log.

So given his love of cars, his birthday was all about cars. I even made him a cars cake. The frosting had nothing to do with the movie, but hey, it had Cars cars on there so that makes it a cars cake!! In an attempt to get him excited about potty training we also got him some big boy Cars underwear. He prefers to wear those on his head as opposed to wearing them on his buns. He'll get there though. Grandma & Grandpa McKenzie supplied Payton with more Cars paraphernalia and the boys' Easter clothes. Grandma & Grandpa Child sent Payton birthday money so after the party we went to the Disney store so Payton could pick some things out. My advice is to never take a two year old to the Disney store in the afternoon when he hasn't had a nap and he's totally overwhelmed with having a party in his honor. He was pretty grumpy, but picked out some really cool little things. And of course, they were more cars. I think he has almost all the characters now.
So that's the run down. He's two, and we like it!

Roll Out!

We've really been working with Jackson to get him to be more reverent at church. He usually likes to play Transformers so you'll frequently hear him saying, "auto bots......ROLL OUT!" About halfway through sacrament meeting I had to remind him that he should be thinking about Jesus. A couple minutes later I hear him say, "Jesus Christ.......ROLL OUT!"

Pictures

Yesterday was bright and sunny so the boys and I took advantage of the sun and went down to the ocean. Unfortunately it was a bit more chilly than we expected, but we got some cute pictures out of it anyway.

Nate

I just wanted to take a minute and brag about my husband. He took another test last week and got the scores today and as I expected, he passed. (He thought he failed) I think it's pretty amazing what the students here go through. Learning Tagalog is Nate's full-time job. He's given 47 weeks to not just become a fluent speaker, but he also has to be able to read, write, and have good knowledge of the culture. I think it's pretty impressive and I'm proud of him for passing yet another test!!

I'm not old.

Jackson was watching me get ready for church on Sunday and directed his attention towards my yucky feet. He says, "Mom, why are your feet cracked?" I say, "Because I'm getting old." He says, "Old? You're not old. You're beautiful!"

Utah!!!

My dearest Momsie is turning 60! My Dad has graciously decided to fly me and the boys out to Utah for two weeks. Unfortunately Nate will be staying here and going to school. And sadly, he'll be watching the Super Bowl with out me.....

If I don't post anything in the next two weeks it's because I'll be too busy actin' a foo' with these guys.....

He knows what's up

Payton likes to sing. Yesterday we were in the car and he was singing one of his cute little songs. I couldn't tell if he was repeating "Mommy" over and over again or if he was saying "money." I turned to him and said, "Are you saying Mommy?" He literally yelled out, "NO!" Then I said, "Are you saying Money?" He gets a big smile on his face, says "YES" and continues singing, "Money, money, money, money.."

Great new video

Catholicvote.com has once again put out a great video. I think they did a great job showing their Pro-Life stance without being insulting to anyone who is Pro-Choice. I thought it was inspiring and uplifting.
